Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
TCM is a holistic medical system that was developed in China thousands of years ago. It includes acupuncture, acupressure, various types of herbal medicine, massage, and exercise.
Acupuncture is a form of TCM that involves the insertion of very thin, sterile, disposable needles into the skin to achieve a therapeutic effect. Needles are gently tapped into acupuncture points which are located on the energy channels called meridians. Acupuncture encourages natural healing, elevates mood and energy, reduces pain, relieves stress, and improves functions of the body.
Acupressure is the application of pressure with the thumbs or fingertips to the acupuncture points. It is an option for people who don't like needles. A needle free treatment can also be experienced with a StimPlusPro point stimulator that will produce a microcurrent of electricity.
Herbal therapy involves the use of herbal formulas that may be suggested to you as part of your specific treatment plan. These formulas are used to help your system return to greater balance. Moxibustion is the application of mugwort herb directly or indirectly to acupoints for warmth and healing.
Gua sha (flat stone scraping) and hot stone stone massage are used to promote increased blood and energy circulation.
Homeopathic formulas
Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine which uses very diluted, potentized substances to treat symptoms. The system is based on the theory of like cures like. For example, onions can cause the eyes to water and the nose to run. The homeopathic remedy, Allium cepa, is made from onion. It may help to relieve a runny nose or watery eyes.
SPECIALTY TREATMENTS
"Just to Try" Acupuncture:
Try an introductory treatment with just a few needles. A small number of needles will be gently tapped into the arms. legs, or abdomen depending on where you would like to experience acupuncture.
The Back Treatment:
Relieve back pain and tension with a relaxing acupuncture session followed by a few minutes of hot stone massage. Acupuncture points will be treated on the back as well as other areas of the body to provide relief.
Relaxation Treatment:
Melt away stress and worries with deeply relaxing acupuncture sessions. Points may be needled on each ear to help you relieve stress. Multiple points on the body will also be treated.
Detoxification Treatment:
Restore harmony and balance by helping the body to cleanse and eliminate toxins with detox treatments. Points for the liver, kidneys, and large intestine will be selected for these sessions. Product may also be selected to reduce environmental toxins in the body and to improve functioning of the organs of elimination.
Auricular Acupuncture for withdrawal:
The North American Detoxification Association promotes a five point ear acupuncture protocol which is well known for treatment of addiction withdrawal. Treatments may be suggested one or two times per week depending on the severity of the withdrawal.
Weight Loss Acupuncture:
In addition to a healthy lifestyle, these treatments can help you safely lose weight. The treatment plan will be focused on correcting imbalances of the body. Acupuncture points may be selected to improve digestion and metabolism, reduce water retention, promote elimination, and improve energy.
ACUGRAPH
The Energy Therapy Clinic provides meridian imaging through AcuGraph testing. Meridians are energy pathways of the body. This system allows instant analysis of the energetic condition of the patient’s acupuncture meridians. Results are stored for analysis and comparison which allows us to track treatment progress. A short exam involves touching a probe to points on the hands and feet. A graph is created immediately on a laptop to display the energy level of each meridian. Green lines indicate normal energy, blue lines show low energy, excessive energy is colored red, and purple will result when there is an energy imbalance when comparing the left and right sides of a meridian. The imbalances may contribute to health problems. The goal of the acupuncture treatment is to restore energetic balance and proper energy flow to these meridians, allowing the body to return to health naturally. The system also suggests points and herbal product for excellent treatment.
